Mitsui & Co. partners with Turkish packaging firm

Habertürk – Japanese trading giant Mitsui & Co. has acquired a 15 percent stake of Turkish packaging firm Sarten Ambalaj, making its way into one of the world’s most promising investment destinations with a consistently growing economy and a strategic location.

Mitsui & Co has designated Türkiye as a priority country in its Medium-Term Management Plan, according to the company’s Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Europe, Hironobu Ishikawa, at the joint press event held in Istanbul. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

“Türkiye, with its 77 million people, half of which are under the age of 30, presents a huge growth opportunity,” Ishikawa said, stating Mitsui’s confidence in the country’s potential.

The family-owned Sarten Ambalaj has plants in Bulgaria and Russia, in addition to Türkiye, and is considered to be one of Türkiye’s largest integrated packaging manufacturers.
