Incoming EU term president pledges to speed up Türkiye's membership talks

Dunya - Carl Bildt, the foreign minister of Sweden, which is set to take over the rotating term presidency of the European Union on July 1, next Wednesday, said his country will step up Türkiye's EU accession negotiations. Sweden is determined to move forward in negotiations with Türkiye, he told a press conference in Brussels. Stressing Türkiye's strategic importance for the EU, he said that he envisions a Europe that unites everyone, not one that excludes some nations. Bildt said he is aware of the difficulties of this vision, but believes these problems can be overcome through open debates.
