In Brussels, Türkiye’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan tried to stress his country’s strategic value to the bloc, saying he hoped to sign a deal next month to bring Türkiye into the planned Nabucco gas pipeline project, which will transfer Central Asian gas to Europe. European elections this month have strengthened the position of political parties in France and Germany that favor a less formal relationship with Türkiye rather than full membership. “We cannot accept the positions France and Germany have taken. Our goal is full membership” said Erdogan.
