Foreign investments on the rise in Türkiye’s fruit industry

Milliyet - Following Brazilian fruit producer Cutrale’s cooperation deal with the Turkish companies Anadolu and Etap, more globally renowned companies have started to consider investing in the country’s flourishing agro-industry. The Fruit Juice Industry Association (MEYED) President Alaaddin Guc said they expect foreign investments, particularly from Israel, in fruit production, as the 16th Congress of the International Federation of Fruit Juice Producers (IFU) is to be held on May 4-5 in Istanbul.

Indian irrigation company Jain Irrigation Systems, which has already invested USD 20 million in Adana to build an irrigation systems production plant, is also interested in fruit production in the country. Jain Türkiye CEO Abdurrahman Gungor said they will initially start fruit production in Adana and later contract with fruit farmers in the region to expand production.

German organic baby food producer Hipp is also planning to invest in organic fruit production in Türkiye. Partnered with Turkish Targid in fruit juice production, Hipp will invest TRY 15 million in apricot and peach farming in Nigde and Karaman. The company is planning to move on to fruit juice production in due course.
