US-based streaming and entertainment giant Netflix announced a total investment of TRY 10 billion in Turkish films and series over the 2026-2028 period, marking its 10th anniversary in Türkiye. The investment will support new productions across various cities in the country, create employment opportunities throughout the creative industries, and bring more stories from Türkiye to audiences in 190 countries.
The announcement further highlights Türkiye's growing position as a global hub for audiovisual content production, supported by its strong production capabilities, skilled workforce, and internationally recognized creative talent.
Commenting on Netflix's investment announcement, Investment and Finance Office President A. Burak Dağlıoğlu stated that Türkiye has become an important center for the global film and television industry, thanks to its strong production capacity, qualified human resources, and increasing international visibility. He noted that Türkiye leads the world in annual TV series episode production and is home to the world's 3rd largest and Europe's largest film production facility. Turkish TV series, exported to 190 countries and reaching more than 1 billion viewers, generate over USD 1 billion in export revenues, demonstrating the sector's global success.
Dağlıoğlu emphasized that Netflix's TRY 10 billion investment represents a strong vote of confidence in Türkiye's creative production capabilities, skilled workforce, and global competitiveness. He also highlighted the country's policy framework supporting service exports, noting that the tax rate on revenues derived from service exports had been reduced to zero under the Powerhouse for Investments in the Türkiye Century program. He added that Netflix's investment announcement further demonstrates the effectiveness of this policy in strengthening Türkiye's position in international content production.
Netflix Vice President of Content for Spain, Portugal, Türkiye, and the Middle East, Diego Ávalos noted that the company had filmed in more than 30 cities across Türkiye over the past decade and brought more than 90 Turkish productions to audiences worldwide. He added that these productions had appeared in Netflix's Top 10 lists in more than 90 countries, reflecting the creativity and dedication of Türkiye's film and television industry.
Ávalos stated that the newly announced investment would enable Netflix to bring untold stories from different parts of Anatolia to the screen while creating new employment opportunities across the creative industries. He also reaffirmed the company's commitment to working with local talent and sharing Turkish productions with global audiences.
Alongside its production investments, Netflix continues to support the development of Türkiye's creative talent and content ecosystem. The company recently announced The Next Story: Netflix Project Pitch Day, scheduled for November 30, which will give aspiring writers, directors, and producers who have not previously worked on a Netflix Türkiye production the opportunity to present their projects to the platform's content teams.
To date, Netflix has organized more than 40 free training programs in Türkiye, covering areas ranging from screenwriting and visual effects to directing and adaptation workshops. Its Türkiye Talent Map initiative, which has been running for two years, has also connected young people from various cities across the country with professional training opportunities in the creative industries. The initiative is set to expand to three additional cities in Anatolia in its next phase.
