New energy investments and projects in pipeline

Hurriyet Daily News - Energy and Natural Resources Minister Berat Albayrak said important investments and projects will be launched in the energy sector in the near future.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of a large call center in western Türkiye that will help address customers’ concerns with energy service, Albayrak drew attention to the government’s plans to launch its first tenders for local coal and solar energy before the end of the year. These, and a number of other projects, will lay the groundwork for Türkiye to become a research and development hub in the energy sector.

Albayrak said that service quality in the power distribution sector, which serves 40 million houses in Türkiye, is set to improve through a new project encompassing the establishment of nine call center facilities to collect citizens’ concerns regarding energy service. The recently inaugurated call center in the Aegean region of Türkiye marks the first of the planned facilities. This call center project will offer jobs for some 2,000 people across the country.

Referring to the more-than-doubled grid capacity in Türkiye during the past three decades, Albayrak underlined the necessity of an investment run-up to meet Türkiye’s existing infrastructure requirements while keeping in mind the capacity needs of the future.
