President Erdoğan Delivers Video Message at OECD Istanbul Centre

​“We are one step closer to our mission to position Istanbul as a center for international organizations, especially the United Nations,” stated President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at a video message on January 22. 

The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) kicked off a regional center in Istanbul. At the inauguration of the OECD Istanbul Centre – the 5th regional center of the organization – President Erdoğan delivered a speech​.  

“We have always wished that a center of OECD, a cornerstone of global economy, would be established in Türkiye,” said President Erdoğan, adding that the center will give the country an opportunity to contribute to OECD’s operations in the Middle East, North Africa and the Eurasia. 

Among the senior-level speakers of the ceremony were Minister of Trade Ruhsar Pekcan and OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurria. 

OECD also has regional centers in Berlin, Mexico City, Tokyo and Washington, DC.
