Schneider commissions eco-friendly plant in Manisa

Sabah - Türkiye’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz said Türkiye will meet 20 percent of its energy needs from renewable sources by the year 2020. Attending the opening ceremony of Schneider Electric’s latest factory in the Manisa Organized Industrial Zone, Yildiz said, “According to our plan, at least 20 percent of Türkiye’s energy requirement will be generated using renewable energy sources by 2020. Carbon and sulfide emissions will be lowered by 20 percent and they will be 20 percent more economical.”

Delivering a speech in the opening ceremony, Schneider Electric CEO Jean Pascal Tricoire stated that they would be actively investing in Türkiye in 2010 and added that they will increase the number of employees from 1,200 to 2,000 in the same year.

“Schneider Electric will keep on investing in Türkiye as we firmly believe in the country’s huge potential. Our new factory in Manisa will export to countries in Europe, North Africa and South America. We will be investing EUR 50 million in Türkiye for the next three years. The new factory will triple the current output when fully completed”, said Tricoire.

The environment-friendly Schneider Electric plant in Manisa will consume 30 percent less energy compared to similar factories. The first stage of the investment has cost EUR 15 million.
