A joint venture of Turkish Airlines (THY) and German Lufthansa, SunExpress decided to end its operations in Germany in order to further expand its focus on Türkiye. As part of the new operation plan of SunExpress, leisure and domestic flights to and from Türkiye will be the only target of the airline.
"With shareholders of Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, we have decided to focus on our strength in air travel into Türkiye as the home carrier for Antalya and Izmir,” said SunExpress CEO Max Kownatzki.
Having a head office in Türkiye’s coastal province Antalya, SunExpress re-started its domestic flights within Türkiye on June 1st following a temporary halt to its operations due to COVID-19.
