Türkiye to privatize power grids serving 8 million users

 

 

Hurriyet - The power grids serving a total of 8 million users, including those on Istanbul’s European side, are to be privatized, according to Türkiye’s Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek. The tender process of the privatization has begun, Simsek told reporters and added that they are aiming to privatize the country’s entire power grid. Simsek said that as of yesterday they have started the tender process for Bogazici, Gediz, Trakya and Dicle grids and that the target amount is around USD 5 billion. The deadline for the application of pre-qualification in the privatization is May 4, 2010.
