A digital sim card was developed by Turkish engineers using only indigenous sources, and it is ready to be launched in 2021, said Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu at a publicity meeting on December 24.
Minister Karaismailoğlu emphasized, “Türkiye is en route to become one of the strongest economies of the world. The developed infrastructure has been proving advantageous with regard to transportation and communication industries.”
Minister Karaismailoğlu added that today people’s lives have undergone huge changes due to COVID-19, necessitating the use of the internet and communication systems for sustainability. “We are proud to introduce the application of the 100 percent domestically produced eSIM to our country. When the new eSIM is brought into use, eSIM-enabled devices will be activated and regulated remotely thanks to the safe on-board chip in these devices. This technology will increase the safety and protection of SIM cards,” he stated.
Dubbed “eSIM”, the digital sim card will be useful in a variety of ways, including smartphones, wearables, machine-to-machine (M2M) communications and industrial products.
