Hurriyet Daily News - A plan to modernize the Georgian side of the Sarp border gate and implement a joint border model to speed up transactions in the upcoming period is in place, said Rifat Hisarcıklıoglu, President of Turkey’s Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB).
Hisarcıklıoglu, also President of the Economic Cooperation Organization Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ECO CCI), expressed eagerness to share experiences regarding the issue to the countries in the ECO region. ECO CCI members include Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
“However, as a precondition, the legislations of the two countries on the two sides of the border should be arranged in a way to allow similar implementations”, he said. “Within this framework, private sector representatives play an important role.”
