Cargill Türkiye

Cargill has been active in Türkiye since 1960 through a local partnership agreement. The company commenced trading as Cargill in 1986, and now has more than 600 employees in seven locations in Türkiye - in Istanbul, Bursa, Adana, Ankara, Balıkesir, Kocaeli, and İzmir.

Cargill Türkiye Head Office, which opened in 1992, is located in Istanbul. In 2014 after a commercial re-organization, Cargill Foods Türkiye started to serve its customers in the Middle East, Türkiye, and North Africa (METNA). Currently Cargill's Istanbul office serves as the main regional office in the METNA region, overseeing offices in Dubai, Casablanca, Cairo, and Algeria.

Production and Commerce

Today, Cargill is a major player in Türkiye with a strong position in the food industry, particularly in starches and sweeteners. For example, Cargill's Bursa-Orhangazi plant acts as a supplier in many fields of the food industry specialized in starches and sweeteners. Cargill's 2014 acquisition of Turyağ in Balıkesir marked the company's entry into the Turkish edible fats and oils market. The acquisition provided customers with additional opportunities in the oils and fats space and enhanced Cargill's long-term view for developing its business in the Middle East, North Africa, and Türkiye.

In the same year, Cargill acquired oleo-chemical producer Alemdar Kimya, located in Gebze-İzmit. The Alemdar Kimya plant now offers a growing number of products derived from renewable sources designed to replace or offset non-renewable ingredients in two product groups: industrial starches and industrial oil.

R&D and Quality

Cargill carries out its production activities within a closed system, without human contact, and in line with the standards of the Turkish Food Codex and Food Security. Maintaining its operations in line with the ISO 22000, ISO 14001 and OHSAS quality standards, Cargill METNA meets the industries' regulations in its each plant.

Environment and Energy

Cargill's Bursa and Balıkesir plants undertook significant renewable production and efficiency projects. The Bursa factory has been awarded the Energy-Efficient Industrial Facility Award by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. Meanwhile, the Balıkesir plant reduced CO2 emissions by 50 percent in 2017. Cargill aims to continue its investments in supporting the environment, energy, and water.

Corporate Responsibility

Cargill places great importance on the education and well-being of people as well as the environmental issues that exist in the region. Since the establishment of the company, Cargill has developed many social responsibility projects on its own. Additionally, Cargill works in close cooperation with various non-governmental organizations to develop social responsibility and volunteering projects.
