Since the beginning of its journey in 1836, Schneider Electric has become a global expert in energy management. The journey started in the iron and steel industry, continued in the heavy machinery and shipbuilding sectors later in the 19th century, and then switched to electric and automation management in the 20th century.

Schneider Electric is now leading the digital transformation of energy management and automation in homes, buildings, data centers, infrastructure, and industries. With a global presence in over 100 countries, Schneider is the undisputable leader in power management – medium voltage, low voltage and secure power, and in automation systems. The company provides integrated efficiency solutions that combine energy, automation, and software.

Schneider Electric has been active in Türkiye for more than 160 years, and its initial commercial activities were related to the supply of heavy industry products to the Ottoman Navy. The sales of Telemecanique started in 1975 with a single dealer. This was followed by the production of Merlin Gerin medium-voltage breakers in 1978 through a license granted to Emek. Investments in Türkiye gained momentum when Telemecanique started its activities in Türkiye in 1987 and when Merlin Gerin bought Emek in 1988, setting up a dealer network to sell low-voltage products. The medium-voltage factory in Kemalpaşa, Izmir, which was expanded in 1997, became the company's global production center in 1999. Metesan, bought by Lexel in 2000, was tied to Schneider Electric Türkiye four years later, and its integration was completed in 2006. After acquiring PKS, a cable conduit producer, the company started to invest in its 73,000-square-meter factory in 2009, where it produces medium-voltage products and breakers. Following the new factory investment in Manisa, the company took over the medium-voltage distribution activities of Areva in the same year and set up the energy department, its fifth global business field. As of 2013, following a 1.5-year merger process, Schneider Electric incorporated Telvent, a real-time information technology solutions and information provider.

Schneider Electric carries out its activities in Türkiye with around 2,000 employees, 200 dealers and partners, 18 sales offices, and three production plants in Çiğli-Izmir, Kocaeli-Gebze, and Manisa. Schneider Electric continues to contribute to the Turkish economy and to employment. The transformer factory in Kocaeli is Schneider Electric's first "LEED Gold" certified building in the world, while its Manisa plant is the first "BREEAM-in-Use" certified factory in Türkiye.
