R&D center for General Mobile’s bestseller country, Türkiye

Radikal – Having ranked first in the Turkish dual SIM card market last year with total sales of 450,000 dual SIM card mobile phones, General Mobile will establish its second R&D center in Istanbul, following the first in New York, USA. Muzaffer Golcu, Board Member of General Mobile’s Türkiye distributor Genccell, said Türkiye is the bestseller country for General Mobile and added, “The second R&D center of General Mobile in the world will be located in Istanbul after New York. We have invested USD 1.5 million in the center so far, while we are considering injecting a further investment worth USD 5 million within a couple of years.” Golcu also stated that they will develop new models in the new center and that they will even become involved in manufacturing activities. He said, “We will manage neighboring countries including Ukraine, Russia and Azerbaijan, from Türkiye, and we will develop convenient models for these countries, since their tastes are more or less the same as Türkiye’s.”
