Tech Mahindra sets up Istanbul office as regional HQ

Dünya – The IT and telecom solutions provider Tech Mahindra of India’s Mahindra conglomerate has established its first office in Istanbul as part of a broad vision that places Turkey at the center of its operations in regional markets. Drawn by the potential of Turkey’s young, tech-savvy urban population, Tech Mahindra will take advantage of the country’s bridging location between Europe and Asia to set up a near-shore service hub to cater for the needs of its domestic and regional customer base.

“Tech Mahindra will accompany Turkey on its growth track by recruiting and training local talent to support this growth.”, Tech Mahindra’s Vice-President of Sales and Operations for the Middle East and Africa, Girish Bhat, said at the opening ceremony.

“We welcome India’s leading IT company with a firm belief in its future growth in this region alongside Turkey.”, the President of the Investment Support and Promotion Agency of Turkey (ISPAT), Ilker Ayci said about the investment, drawing attention to the country’s qualified labor force. Instrumental in Tech Mahindra’s decision to choose Turkey as a regional operations hub, the ISPAT President highlighted the enormous potential that the country’s young population provides to global IT and telecom companies, saying; “The number of mobile subscribers in Turkey between the years 2005 and 2012 rose by 54 percent while broadband and 3G subscriptions were sky high with growth rates of 1087 percent and 512 percent respectively..”

Through business-friendly policies and an attractive investment incentive system, Turkey aims to have an ICT sector of about USD 160 billion by 2023, up from its 2011 volume of USD 30 billion.
