Soma wind farm nears completion

Radikal - Soma wind energy plant in the Aegean province of Manisa nears completion as the builder Polat Enerji commissioned the plant's first phase consisting of 38 turbines. Polat Enerji, partnered by French EDS, has invested some EUR 100 million in the plant, scheduled to be completed by 2012.

Manisa's Soma region, known for its coal reserves, currently supplies 22 percent of Türkiye's coal needs. Soma wind farm, with its 200 MW capacity and spanning over one million square meters, will be Türkiye's and Europe's largest single wind power plant.
