Turkish-Syrian partnership to explore for oil in Syria

Cumhuriyet - Taner Yildiz, Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, said a joint oil company has been established by Türkiye and Syria and that explorations will be carried out in seven oil fields in Syria.

Yildiz said Türkiye is being given access to oil fields without a tender and noted that the company will start exploring for oil after regulations concerning the new partnership’s capital rules, executive board members and required equipment are settled.

Minister Yildiz also stated that the Turkish section of the 1,200 km-long Arab Gas Pipeline is near completion and that construction on the Syrian side is still continuing. “The Arab Gas Pipeline will be operational within a year”, said Yildiz.
