Marmaray project tender delayed to March 12

The New Anatolian - The last tender for 'Dream Project' Marmaray, which was scheduled for February 12, was postponed to March 12 due to the request of international companies, officials said. The last tender will be made for 440 railway vehicles which will travel on Gebze-Halkali route. South Korea's ROTEM, France's ALSTOM, Italy's Ansaldobreda SPA, Spain's CAF, China's China National Aero-Technology Import & Export Corporation and a consortium of Canadian Bombardier, German Siemens and Turkish Nurol will bid for the project. Marmaray aims to connect Asia and Europe underwater. The project is nearly 13.5 kilometers long and the part of the project under water will be 1.5 kilometers. Marmaray also covers a metro line of 76.3 km which will be constructed from Halkali district in European side of Istanbul to Gebze in Anatolian side.
