Technology retailer Best Buy investing in Turkey

Sabah – One of world’s largest electronics retailers, Best Buy, is soon to open stores in Turkey. At the press conference he held in Istanbul, Robert A. Willet, CEO of Best Buy, said they plan to open three stores in Izmir, Ankara and Bursa by the first quarter of 2010. Willet stated that there is a fast growing market in Turkey, which he sees as the “China of Europe”, and added, “We are considering acquiring certain local brands in Turkey and expanding them into the other countries in which we operate.” Willet said they are in Turkey for the long term and went on, “We are in Turkey for the millennium and want to contribute to the Turkish economy. Turkey will be a part of our supply chain. We aim to create added-value in this country.”
