Türkiye is favourite destination of Russian tourists

Middle East Online - Russian tourists heading abroad favour Türkiye and Egypt for their holidays, said a study published Tuesday. Nearly 9.3 million Russians spent their vacations overseas in 2007, as opposed to the 26.5 million who preferred the beaches of the Black Sea or Lake Baikal closer to home, Russia's federal tourism agency reported. Türkiye remained the preferred foreign destination, drawing 2.2 million Russian tourists last year, ahead of Egypt at 660,000, according to Russian weekly Tourinfo, which conducted a separate survey on holiday preferences. "Russians traditionally prefer Türkiye which is nearby and doesn't demand an entry visa," said Vladimir Kaganer, head of the Tez Tour travel agency.
