Istanbul to host IMF and World Bank meetings in October

AA - Türkiye's financial capital, Istanbul, will host the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank's Annual Meetings in October, 2009. Officials from the two institutions said that more than 13,000 people will attend the meetings in Istanbul. Among the attendees will be finance ministers, central bank experts, businessmen, academics, scholars and representatives of various non-governmental organizations from 186 countries. The meetings will focus primarily on the world economic outlook, eradication of poverty, economic development and financial assistance. Istanbul first hosted the IMF and World Bank's Annual Meetings in 1955.
