“Türkiye and Japan should increase bilateral trade”

Hurriyet Daily News - Türkiye and Japan need to further develop their 120-year-long friendship in terms of trade, said Japanese Consul General Katsuyoshi Hayashi at the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce’s (ICC) October meeting on Thursday. Hayashi said bilateral trade figures between the two countries are insufficient, although some 54 Japanese companies have their offices in Türkiye and many other companies trade here without maintaining local offices. Some 1,400 Japanese live in Türkiye, he said. The Consul General also said that "Japan Year 2010 in Türkiye” had increased the number of Japanese tourists visiting Türkiye by 40 percent since January. "The only missing link in this chain is bilateral trade," said Hayashi.
