Aksam - Türkiye’s apparent success in weathering the effects of the global financial crisis did not go unnoticed by the World Bank. Managing Director of the World Bank Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala spoke highly of Türkiye’s stance in face of the global financial crisis and praised its ability to resist the economic downturn. Okonjo-Iweala linked Türkiye’s economic prowess to recent reforms and added, “With its primary surplus and foreign reserves, Türkiye was well-prepared for the crisis and managed to handle difficulties with ease”.
