Turkish city of Gaziantep's exports are on rise

AA - Nejat Kocer, the Chairman of the Gaziantep Chamber of Industry (GSO), said on Monday that Gaziantep's exports are on the rise at a time when the effects of the global financial crisis are most evident. In a meeting held to promote the Fourth International Iraqi Fair to be held between May 21 and 24, 2009, Kocer said that the fair in Gaziantep will help develop ties between Türkiye and Iraq. "Gaziantep has become a role model for the provinces of the region in promoting trade relations with neighboring countries. Gaziantep has established important contacts with neighboring countries, including Iran and Syria. Such relations help Gaziantep grow both commercially and socially," said Kocer. We expect to carry at least 50,000 people to the fair in Gaziantep through various airlines, including Turkish Airlines (THY), Kocer stated. Meanwhile, Mehmet Aslan, Chairman of the Gaziantep Chamber of Trade (GTO), said they expect more than 50,000 visitors at the Gaziantep fair. "Many ministers, deputy ministers and ambassadors from 20 countries will visit the Gaziantep fair," said Aslan. The Fourth International Iraqi Fair in Gaziantep will take place over an area of 15,000 square meters and will remain open between 10.00 a.m. and 7.00 p.m.
