Sabanci in talks for Türkiye's first nuclear tender

Hurriyet English- Türkiye's Sabanci Holding is in talks to work together with General Electric, Hitachi Nuclear Energy and Spanish utility firm Iberdrola SA for the tender to construct and operate Türkiye's first nuclear power plant. Sabanci bought documents to bid in the tender in a statement sent to the Istanbul Stock Exchange. Eight companies and consortiums had so far received specifications to construct and operate a nuclear power plant in the Mediterranean province of Mersin and sell electrical energy to the Turkish Electricity Trading and Contracting Company (TETAS). China Nuclear Power Components from China and Unit Investment N.V. from the Netherlands were the last two companies that received specifications. Another six companies and consortiums that received specifications are Canadian AECL (Atomic Energy Of Canada Limited), Japanese Itochu Corporation, French Vinci Construction Grand Projets, French-Belgium Suez Tractebel, Russian Atostroyexport and South Korean-Turkish KEPCO. The final competition is planned to be held on September 24. Türkiye plans to build a nuclear power plant with a capacity between 3000 to 5000 megawatts. TETAS will sign a contract with the best bidder to buy power for at least 15 years.
