Italian Indesit to grow in Turkey

AA – Indesit Company, the Italian durable house goods producer, recently announced its decision to grow in Turkey, thus making its facilities in the Turkish Aegean city of Manisa its biggest refrigerator production facility. Formed in 1975, the Indesit Company is today the second largest white goods maker in Europe. The Group has 18 factories, located in Italy, Poland, the UK, CIS, Turkey and China, while the number of its commercial branches stands at 24 worldwide. The Group currently employs more than 17,000 people and generated sales worth of EUR 3.2 billion in 2008. Indesit, Hotpoint-Ariston and Scholtès are the company's main brands. The Manisa factory’s annual refrigerator production capacity was 400,000 in 2005, while the company raised this figure to one million in 2008. Meanwhile, the factory exports 80 percent of its production to Britain, France and Italy.
