Haberturk – Türkiye climbed to be 6th popular tourist destination in the world, according to the World Tourism Organization’s (UNWTO) “Tourism Highlights 2012” report. The country is the only destination in the top 10 list that rose in rank in 2011.
A major holiday destination in the Mediterranean region, Türkiye saw 29.3 million international arrivals in 2011, displacing Britain to become the 6th popular destination in the world.
The country is becoming increasingly popular for tourists from the Middle Eastern countries, as well as Europeans, and is foreseen to enter top 5 tourism destinations over the next 10 years.
