Türkiye among top three European electricity markets in 2030

Dünya - Türkiye’s growing need for energy is slated to make the country Europe’s third biggest electricity market in 2030, said the president of Türkiye’s Energy Markets Regulatory Authority (EMRA). “Türkiye currently takes the sixth place following Germany, France, the UK, Italy and Spain in terms of installed and actual power demands,” said Hasan Koktas, predicting that Türkiye’s power market will grow to become the third biggest in Europe by 2030.

Koktas underlined the dynamic nature of Türkiye’s energy sector, adding that power plants utilizing hydrocarbon sources will require some TRY 350 billion (approx. USD 225 billion) of investments, while renewable-based plants will need TRY 440 billion (approx. USD 280) to meet the demand in 2030.
