Canada seen interested in Türkiye nuclear tender

Reuters - A tender to construct and operate Türkiye's first nuclear power plant has attracted interest from five countries, government spokesman Cemil Cicek said on Monday. "Five countries have shown interest in the nuclear tender so far," said Cicek, following the government's weekly cabinet meeting, and named Canada, Japan, France, Belgium and Russia. Türkiye, facing an energy shortfall, has set a September 24 deadline for bids to build its first nuclear power plant. Ankara plans three nuclear plants in total with a total production capacity of 5,000 megawatts. Turkish firms Sabanci Holding, construction firm Enka Insaat and Zorlu Enerji had previously said they were interested in the tender.
