Turkish-made cars make a strong debut in Paris Motor Show

Sabah - Several brand-new ‘Made in Türkiye’ motor vehicles from global producers were revealed for the first time in this year’s Paris Motor Show, held at a time of declining sales and slowing production in the European auto industry.

Among the Turkish-manufactured newcomers, Renault’s Clio 4 and Clio Sports Tourer took the center stage. The Clio 4 had been the subject of a debate between the automaker and the former French President, Nicholas Sarkozy about the production location. Despite Sarkozy’s opposition, Renault ended up deciding to produce the majority of its hot-seller in its Turkish plant, while keeping the production line in France also open. A revamped Fluence sedan fresh out of the Bursa plant was also present in the Renault booth.

The new Verso, manufactured in Toyota’s Adapazari plant in western Türkiye, was among the arrivals in Paris, as the company’s popular sedan Corolla counts months to reenter production in the same plant by the second half of the next year.

Ford’s new light commercial vehicle (LCV) Tourneo Connect, Hyundai’s supermini i20 and a special edition of Fiat’s Turkish-designed Fiorino Trekking also joined the cavalcade of Turkish-made vehicles in the event.
