Star - The most capacious yacht marina in the eastern Mediterranean has opened in Türkiye’s southern city of Mersin. Built at a cost of TRY 100 million (approx. USD 54 million), the marina will be able to accommodate up to a thousand boats.

The complex will also house shopping malls and food courts, turning the marina into a recreational center for the people of Mersin, said the Minister of Transportation, Maritime and Communications, Binali Yildirim, at the opening ceremony. Accompanied by the Minister of the Economy, Zafer Caglayan, and the Minister of Food, Agriculture and Husbandry, Mehdi Eker, Yildirim said the project was jointly realized by the public and private sectors, utilizing the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model. The marina will create employment for some 4,000 people.
