Türkiye’s Karsan to produce LCVs for Hyundai

Sabah - Turkish automotive company Karsan has signed a deal with South Korean carmaker Hyundai, for the production and distribution rights of a light commercial vehicle (LCV).

The deal, sequel to a MoU signed in January, calls for the local manufacturing and distribution of a 3-6 ton range LCV by Karsan in Türkiye. Karsan already produces a range of commercial vehicles for European companies like Renault, Citroen and Peugeot, as well as light trucks for Hyundai at its plant in Bursa. The Hyundai-branded LCV to be produced by Karsan will be available in European and other regional countries, as well as Türkiye.

Karsan will roll out a total of 200,000 units of the new LCV in the first seven years of production, which is slated to begin in 2014. Türkiye is home to Hyundai’s first overseas production plant which currently manufactures passenger cars, i20 Troy and Accent Era, for world markets.
