Foreign interest high in Turkish privatizations

AksamTürkiye’s privatization offerings are attracting an increasing number of foreign investors, according to Privatization Administration (OIB) Vice President Ahmet Aksu. “Türkiye is on track with the scheduled privatization projects” said Aksu in an interview, adding that foreign interest in privatization tenders was as high as ever despite the effects of the global financial crisis.

Speaking of the privatization of BOTAS (Petroleum Pipeline Corporation) – one of the high profile corporations to be privatized – Aksu said that the Administration was ready to put the contract out to tender in full or in two parts. Stressing that the Privatization Administration does not discriminate against tender bidders on their basis of nationality, Aksu underlined the Gulf countries’ increased interest in Turkish privatization projects, including power and natural gas grids as well as highway offerings.
