Türkiye's efforts to accelerate the adoption of AI across the public sector gained further momentum as Google unveiled a comprehensive strategic initiative during the AI Tomorrow Summit organized by the Artificial Intelligence Policy Association (AIPA).
The initiative introduces a new USD 2 million Google.org investment, alongside the "AI for Government" policy roadmap, reflecting Google's long-term commitment to collaborating with Türkiye to expand the use of AI across public services while creating economic and social value through the responsible adoption of AI.
Speaking at the summit, Google Türkiye Public Policy and Government Affairs Director Tolga Sobacı emphasized Türkiye's growing role in the global AI landscape.
"Visionary governments around the world are scaling AI to transform public services and unlock the next generation of economic value. With its strong digital infrastructure and dynamic talent pool, Türkiye is uniquely positioned to lead this global transformation. The local Google Cloud region, announced last year by a global hyperscaler, will serve as a key building block of this digital future."
As part of the initiative, Google will collaborate with leading Turkish institutions to advance AI applications in areas with significant public impact.
One of the flagship projects will modernize the national seismic monitoring network of the Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute (KRDAE) through AI-powered technologies. Leveraging Google Cloud capabilities, the project aims to enhance the speed and accuracy of earthquake monitoring and strengthen early warning capabilities.
Another project will further develop the Türk-Ses platform, created by the AI Ecosystem Association, which uses AI to analyze voice patterns for the early detection of neurocognitive disorders, including Alzheimer's disease, helping enable earlier diagnosis and intervention.
The "AI for Türkiye" roadmap is built around three strategic priorities: accelerating the responsible integration of AI into public administration, fostering an innovation-friendly policy environment, and expanding AI capabilities across the workforce. Cloud-first and AI-first public policies, modern data infrastructure, and enabling regulatory frameworks are identified as the foundations of this transformation.
Google is also collaborating with public institutions to strengthen AI capabilities among public officials and sector leaders. Looking ahead, the initiative envisions broader deployment of AI and cloud technologies across sectors such as education, logistics, and cybersecurity, contributing to greater digital resilience, higher productivity, and Türkiye's international competitiveness.
