Aksam - The Investment Support and Promotion Agency of Türkiye (ISPAT), established three years ago to attract foreign investments to Türkiye, has added Turkish executives working in international companies in Europe to its “volunteer” staff. Almost 2,500 medium- to high-level Turkish executives working in European countries were contacted by the Agency to contribute to the efforts to attract foreign interest in investment opportunities offered by Türkiye.
“Turkish executives working abroad are our key allies. They play a vital role in their companies’ decisions when investing in Türkiye”, said ISPAT President Alpaslan Korkmaz. He added that GE Healthcare’s decision to make Türkiye the regional headquarters for its operations in Central Europe, Asia and Africa was largely influenced by a Turkish executive in the company. “We regard Turkish executives in multinational companies as our natural representatives. When contacted, 80 percent of them gave positive responses to our inquiry and offered their assistance”, said Korkmaz, adding that a similar effort was also being undertaken to contact Turkish executives working in companies in North America.
ISPAT’s President noted that Turkish executives of foreign firms operating in Türkiye are also actively working to obtain capacity increases and additional investments. “There are 10,530 registered firms in ISPAT’s database, and the number of potential investors has risen from 5,933 in 2008 to 7,380 this year, while the number of investment applications has increased from 207 to 330”, said Korkmaz, adding that 420 foreign companies with investments in Türkiye intend to increase their capacity.
