Spotify Demonstrates Long-Term Confidence in Türkiye with New Istanbul Office

Swedish streaming platform Spotify has officially announced the opening of its new office in Istanbul, marking a new chapter in the company's presence within Türkiye's dynamic creative industries ecosystem.

The opening was celebrated with a reception attended by Culture and Tourism Deputy Minister Gökhan Yazgı, Copyrights Director General Erkin Yılmaz, Monitoring and Evaluation Department Head at the Turkish Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) Murat Ellialtı, as well as Spotify's global and regional leadership and key representatives from the music industry.

The new office further strengthens Spotify's presence in Türkiye and brings the company closer to the artists, record labels, listeners, policymakers, and cultural partners shaping the country's music industry. It is expected to facilitate closer collaboration with industry stakeholders, expand educational initiatives for artists and their teams, support local employment, and advance efforts to promote Turkish music both domestically and internationally.

Speaking at the opening, Culture and Tourism Deputy Minister Gökhan Yazgı stated, "We view Spotify's decision to expand its presence and investments in Türkiye as a reflection of its confidence in our country and our music. As the Ministry, we wholeheartedly support all investments that will contribute to Türkiye's music and cultural economy through local projects that showcase our artists and dedicated promotional efforts."

Spotify Managing Director for MENAT+ Akshat Harbola praised Türkiye's music market, stating, "Türkiye is one of the world's most culturally vibrant and commercially dynamic music markets. It is also a country where we see significant future potential. Our new office in Istanbul demonstrates our long-term commitment to Türkiye, its artists, its music industry, and its listeners. It also reflects our strong belief in Spotify's role in connecting Turkish music with the world."

According to Spotify data, Turkish music has surpassed 294 billion streams on the platform to date and has grown by more than 190 percent over the past five years. Türkiye continues to be one of Spotify's fastest-growing and most engaged markets, with streams of Turkish music within the country increasing by more than 200 percent over the same period. More than 90 percent of the tracks featured in Spotify Türkiye's Top 50 chart are by Turkish artists.

Turkish music is also reaching wider audiences around the world than ever before. Streams of Turkish artists outside Türkiye have increased 70-fold over the past 11 years. In April 2026 alone, approximately 92.5 million unique users outside Türkiye listened to at least one song by a Turkish artist. This growth has positioned Türkiye among Spotify's 10 largest music markets among non-English-speaking countries.

Through its new Istanbul office, Spotify aims to further reinforce its long-term commitment to Türkiye by working more closely with the artists, industry partners, and stakeholders contributing to the continued growth of Turkish music both at home and around the world.
