TÜBİTAK to Offer Funding to R&D Projects For a Competitive Edge in Technology

The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) called on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to join its R&D Funding Program for the 2nd half of 2020.

Having granted R&D projects approximately USD 125 million in cash in 2019, TÜBİTAK’s 1501 and 1507 programs will approve pre-applications until August 10, 2020. The spectrum of fields eligible for the cash grant have been kept highly broad, varying from ICT, mobility, batteries to energy technologies, robotics & automation and life sciences.

Diversifying the domestic digital world, establishing a solid and competitive technology ecosystem and enlarging Türkiye's technology export capacity were cited by TÜBİTAK's website as driving forces to launch the R&D Funding Program.

The number of grantees awarded R&D funding through the program ranges annually from 1500 to 2000. Between 1995 and 2019, more than 22,200 projects received USD 2.2 billion while the total R&D volume was recorded to be USD 3.6 billion.
