“We cannot look to the future with confidence unless we have a robust defense industry," stated President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in his speech for the ceremony to unveil Turkey's first indigenous helicopter engine, TEI-TS1400, and inaugurate a design center on December 5.
“We have been working non-stop for the last 18 years to construct the defense industry that will meet the needs of today and the future, as there is a continuous transformation in the traditional warfare," President Erdoğan said.
Addressing the audience via videoconference from Vahdettin Mansion in Istanbul, President Erdoğan emphasized that it was a significant day for Turkey's defense future. The Turboshaft Engine Development Project -- which was initiated by Turkey's Defense Industries Presidency and carried out by TUSAS Engine Industries Inc. (TEI) – will be anexemplary in Turkey, said President Erdoğan.
“The investments made into and the capabilities to be gained out of the Turboshaft Engine Development Project (TEDP) will turn TEI into a role model in its area of expertise in Turkey," remarked the President. “The Design Center will help Turkish engineers and design and R&D units to work in a much more efficient and synchronizedmanner."
President Erdoğan concluded his words by emphasizing the fact that the Turkish government is poised to provide any kind of support, including investments and incentives, to every initiative that will help Turkey gain more self-sufficiency.
