China's Huawei increasing R&D investments in Türkiye

Hürriyet Daily News - Chinese global telecom solutions provider Huawei is set to expand its research and development (R&D) operations in Türkiye, according to the director general of the company’s local branch.

“Türkiye is a crucial base for Huawei in meeting the demands of countries in Europe, Central Asia and South America..” Philip Zhihui Liang said Wednesday at a meeting held in the company’s R&D center in Istanbul’s Umraniye district. Huawei offers service to 45 of the world’s leading telecom operators and has users in more than 140 countries, Liang said. The company’s R&D center in Türkiye employs 150 engineers and develops telecom solutions for both Turkish and foreign mobile operators.

Huawei Türkiye’s investments for 2011 will reach USD 25 million and the company will spend a total of USD 50 million in the next 3 years, according to company officials.
