M&A operations in Türkiye reach USD 6.5 billion by mid-year

Sabah - Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) market in Türkiye had a busy first half with 130 deals worth a total of USD 6.5 billion having been reached, as expressed in a recent Ernst & Young report.

The Central and Southeastern European M&A Barometer report of the consultancy company ranks Türkiye the second most active market in M&A operations in Central and Eastern Europe. Poland held the top position with deals worth USD 16.9 billion. Covering 10 countries in the region, the report cites the acquisitions of Türkiye’s Mey Icki by British Diageo Plc. for USD 2.1 billion and Turkish Limak Holding’s acquisition of Italicementi shares in Türkiye for USD 414 million as the largest two of the 130 total transactions. The M&A operations in Türkiye achieved a USD 29 billion volume in 2010, a five-fold growth over the preceding year.
