Türkiye hopes to sign Nabucco deal by June

AA - Türkiye has sent a letter to the EU countries that are part of the Nabucco gas pipeline project and now expects their replies. "If they send the replies by the end of April, we will sign deals by June," said Hilmi Guler, the Turkish Minister of Energy. "We expect the EU to send us the text that EU countries agree on," Guler told reporters. The Turkish government wants to start the project, which will carry gas to the European markets from fields in the Caucasus and Central Asia, as soon as possible, said Guler. Nabucco is planned to be an alternative route to transport gas from Türkiye to Austria through Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary.
