AA- The Turkish Premier, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, have agreed on the construction of a natural gas pipeline between their countries.
Erdogan and Al-Thani discussed the energy issue and commercial relations between Turkey and Qatar during their meeting at a hotel in the coastal town of Bodrum, said officials.
During the gathering, Al-Thani expressed his country's willingness to improve relations with Turkey, while Erdogan said Turkey is in favor of cooperating on a long-term and lasting basis with Qatar regarding the energy issue. Erdogan told Al-Thani that Turkey has a unique position in the transit energy passage and that it wanted to include Qatar's energy resources in this network.
Upon hearing Erdogan's remarks expressing Turkey's desire to sign an agreement on such an issue, Emir Al-Thani said his stance towards the construction of a natural gas pipeline would be positive, according to officials.
