HP-Foxconn launches desktop PC production in Turkish plant

Hurriyet Daily News - Taiwanese electronics giant Foxconn, known for producing iPads for Apple and personal computers (PC) for Hewlett-Packard, has launched production on Turkish soil.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the facility in the Corlu district of northwestern Turkish province of Tekirdag on Friday, Foxconn Türkiye’s general manager said the plant will produce HP desktop PCs for Türkiye’s immediate region.

“Ninety-five percent of the production will be exported to North Africa, the Middle East and Europe,” said Tuna Kardes, adding that the annual output will reach 1.5 million units. The number of workers will increase from the current 300 to 3,000, when the facility starts operating at full capacity.

The total investment in the plant is expected to reach USD 60 million once it achieves full capacity.
