YouTube to Appoint Legal Representative in Turkey

YouTube announced on Wednesday that it has decided to assign a legal entity in Turkey to serve as local representative in compliance with Turkey social media law.

"YouTube respects the laws and regulations in the countries where we operate while maintaining our commitments to access to information," the company said in its written statement.

Turkey's recently amended Internet Law No. 5651 came into effect on Oct. 1, obliging social media platforms accessed over 1 million times per day in the country to hire local representatives.
