EU Commissioner says Customs Union is beneficial both for EU and Turkey

Haber Turk - An EU Commission official said this week that Customs Union is beneficial both for Turkey and the EU. Speaking at the 26th meeting of the Turkey - EU Consultation Committee in Istanbul, Leopoldo Rubinacci, Head of Unit for Europe (non-EU) & Central Asia of the EU Commission, said the EU generally prefers liberalization in its commercial strategies, adding that Turkey generally makes its coordination well and adjusts its structure to the World Trade Organization. Rubinacci noted that Turkey's exports to the EU increased 35 percent, thanks to the Customs Union, and if Turkey pursues its reforms, it will gain more advantages in competition.
