TRY 2 billion cash deposited, 3G deals are inked

Hurriyet – The Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK) signed a deal for ‘Third Generation’ (3G) that will provide a high-speed internet via the GSM network with officials from Turkcell, Vodafone and Avea. As a result, the Turkish government received revenues worth TRY 2 billion in one day through the bid bond taken in cash under the terms of the deal. Binali Yildirim, the Turkish Minister of Transportation and Communication, stated every enterprise will hire 400 engineers each in three years. Yildirim also stated that local telephone lines will be open for competition from as of May 10.
