Invest News DetailTurkish Daily News - Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Kadir Topbas made an opening speech at the “Urban Transformation and Real Estate Investments Conference” supported by Prime Minister Mass Housing Authority (TOKİ) and Urban Land Institute (ULI). Migration and unplanned structuring in Istanbul causes a chaos and gives birth to urban transformation, the mayor noted. Therefore the municipality conducts an array works with a holistic approach to the renovation of cultural heritage and elimination of crooked buildings. Istanbul is a city of industry; however, they aimed to transform it into a city of congress, fashion and finance, said the mayor. Underlining the fact that Istanbul is prone to earthquakes, Mr. Topbas added therefore structural reinforcement efforts continue parallel to transformation projects. Works are under way at Kayabasi, İkitelli and Bahçeşehir as part of transformation project.
