Türkiye to revive world's oldest trade route

The New Anatolian - Türkiye is set to host the world congress of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) in May and plans to hold two special sessions during the event with participation of transportation ministers from 69 countries to revive the historic Silk Road, world's oldest trade route linking Asia and Europe. IRU World Congress will be held in Istanbul on May 15th and 16 and the theme will be "Road Transport, Driving Peace and Prosperity". Mikhail Gorbachev, the last Soviet president, will make the opening remarks at the congress which will also host a "conference of ministers" from European, Asian and Middle Eastern countries. The conference will focus on how to revive the Silk Road.
