Türkiye outranks global giants in innovative exports

Dunya - Türkiye’s entrepreneurs have managed to score highly in the Innovative Products Exports category of The Global Innovation Index 2011. Ranking 11th among the 125 countries surveyed, Türkiye far outranked the world’s major economies, according to the Business Angels Association of Türkiye’s Chairman Baybars Altuntas. “Türkiye has left behind countries like the USA, Germany and Spain in the Innovative Exports Category,” said Altuntas on Türkiye’s performance in the index. The country ranked 21st in the Export of Creative Services category and 13th in Local Competitiveness, he added.

The annual index, prepared by the French school of business administration INSEAD since 2007, ranks countries according to their economies’ level of innovation and their output of innovative products. Institutions, human resources, infrastructure, work environment, market environment, research output, and innovative output are evaluated to decide on a country’s innovation level. The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) also contributed to this year’s index.
